ATTACHMENT METHODS AND TECHNIQUES FOR BONDING HAIR SYSTEMS

The two common, simple, and most used methods to attach hair systems to the scalp are:

Full Head Bond

Perimeter Bonding

The main factor for the word perimeter is that the attachment is as it sounds, around the perimeter of the hair system. The beauty of perimeter bonding is that it can be used with ALL types of base foundation.

The perimeter foundation is built up with 1 inch PU. The middle base can be lace, skin or traditional monofilament.

The attachments for this type of hair system can be daily wear tape, or permanent wear using tape or adhesive.

The benefit of a perimeter bond hair system is the ‘easy to wear’ attachment. This attachment can be achieved simply and effectively with a minimal amount of effort. A perimeter bond hair system should be your preffered choice if you are going to do the cleaning and re-attachment yourself.

Full Head Bonding

A Full Head Bond hair system is one which is permanently worn with an attachment of medical grade adhesive (cream adhesive) or tape (Gio-Bond).

These hair replacements are of a full skin foundation (base) or a full lace foundation.

The principal of these hair replacements is to give the wearer complete attachment to the scalp. The wear time for the cream adhesive is 3-4 weeks and for the Gio-Bond tape 2-3 weeks. When attached properly the benefit to the wearer is that there are no bumps, lumps, or ridges. Even when you run your fingers through the hair, it should feel like a normal head of hair.

Attaching with the cream adhesive does require attentive care as an application of the adhesive is required on the scalp and on the base of the hair replacement. When applied sparingly it will appear as a white solution and needs to cure (transparent) on the skin and on the base before attaching the hair system to the scalp. Application should be slow from front to back (or from back to front). When the two cured adhesives meet, an instant bond will take place. The scalp should be clear of hair where the hair system is placed. If the scalp has growing hair this needs to be shaved.

Attaching with Gio-bond tape is considerably simpler as the tape is attached all over the base of the hair system. After removal of the tape cover (double sided), application can take place. The tape is designed to act like the cream adhesive and can give an excellent full head bond.

hair4all recommends that when using either the cream adhesive or Gio-Bond tape, the removal of the hair replacement should be every 3-4 weeks.

Full head bond is secure, but requires assistance as it is very difficult (almost impossible) to do this on your own.
