FAQs ON COLOURING HUMAN HAIR IN HAIR REPLACEMENT SYSTEMS

Clients of hair4all have submitted the following FAQs on colouring hair in hair systems:

  • Will hair in the hair system take dye the same way as growing hair?

The hair in the hair system will take the colour 1 to 3 times faster than natural growing hair.

  • Do I use the same colour?

No, generally 2 shades lighter will yield the perfect match for the hair system.

  • Will the results have a red tone?

You should stay with green base ash colours, and you can add a few drops of drabber such as ‘red out’ to the mix.

  • What sort of colour should I use?

20 volume cream developer and a brand name for the colour, such as Wella, Clairol, L'Oreal, and Revlon.

  • What tools do I need?

A non-metallic bowl, a nylon brush, disposable gloves, a plastic or rubber comb, and remember to be careful of your clothes!

  • Will I ruin the hair system?

No, follow our instructions to the rule and everything will be fine. Use a comb to direct the dye through the hair and section on a mannequin. Keep the colour off the base.

  • The dye is on, now what?

Just watch the hair closely in a well lit room, and when happy with the colour, rinse thoroughly.

  • How can I be sure the dye will just go where it should and not where it shouldn’t?

By taking good care and attention. Concentrate on colouring the hair and not the base and everything will be fine. If you feel you have applied the hair colour incorrectly, put your hair system under warm running water immediately. You will have approximately 30 seconds before the hair starts to take on the colour.
