Susan is 43 years old and has fine hair she has noticed her hair becoming thinner over the past few years, especially after having her children!
Perms gave extra fullness but made the hair even more brittle.
|
|
|
You can see from this picture that Susan doesn't have a great deal of hair loss but she also doesn't have any weight or density to give her the fullness that she desires.
I am now deciding the size of the template to be able to design the hair system to give her the extra fullness she desires.

Measuring the cellophane. |
|
|
After cutting the cellophane to the desired amount...
|
|
|
I have placed the cellophane over Susan’s head making sure the front is on the forehead just above her eyebrows so she can place her fingers to hold it in position. |
| |
With the tension from Susan holding the front I am able with both hands to stretch out the small creases. |
| |
I do the same for the back area. |
| |
Due to Susan having shoulder length hair, I gather the sides in a bundle behind the back of her head. I do not put the hair in a band or pony-tail because it will lift the hair from the crown and may affect a clean contour/shape of the scalp. |
| |
I have now gathered the loose cellophane and twisted it behind Susan’s ears to gather the cellophane tightly on the top of her head. |
| |
Side shot, you can see the twist I have created causing tight tension on the top. |
|
Side shot from further away. |
| |
In this picture you can also see the depth I have finished at the back of the head clearly showing the shape of Susan’s scalp. |
| |
Susan now has hold of the twisted ends behind her ears which position the shape before I start to use a marker pen and cellotape. |
| |
With the marker pen I put a line where Susan’s hairline starts. I do this now to make it easier to see after the cellotape has been applied. This allows me/you to see if the cellophane slips from the hairline position when the cellotape is attached. |
The first attachment of cellotape is from just above the eyebrows to the back of the head (I attach the cellotape to the skin on the forehead to hold everything in position). |
|
Applying cellotape overlapping the first and slightly to the side. |
|
Doing the same on the other side of the scalp, making sure of the overlap. |
|
| |
Applying down the side. |
|
Shot from further away. |
| |
Finishing close to Susan’s ears which will create a structured shape with added strength when the template is removed. |
| |
Now I am doing the same with the cellotape horizontally across the head and finishing above both ears. |
Applying the cellophane horizontally moving towards the forehead overlapping every piece. |
|
And the same from the top moving to the back of the head. |
|
|
Shot from further away. |
| |
I have applied 3 extra pieces of cellotape at the back of the scalp where the curve is, this gives extra strength to hold the contour. |
| |
I now draw a vertical line directly from the hairline and in between Susan’s eyebrows. |
| |
Shaping the desired design for the hair system. |
| |
Continuing around the scalp... |
| |
Continuing around the scalp... |
| |
Continuing around the scalp... |
| |
Now on the other side of the scalp marking the same design and shape. |
|
Eventually arriving and connecting the marked shape created by the pen. |
Carefully removing the template. |
|
|
Removed template. |
|
Cutting template from the markings. |
| |
Template finished. |
Checking template. |
|
Checking contour at the back of the head. |
|
| |
You can see the new template is correct to Susan’s hair system she wears presently. We will now show how to attach the hair system. |
| |
Removing the tape to prepare for attachment. |
| |
Ready to attach. |
| |
Because Susan has hair that is fine she now pulls her hair tight with both hands before I make the attachment. |
| |
I place the hair system ¼ inch before her natural hairline. |
| |
Close up. |
| |
I slowly apply the hair system with both hands attaching with a deliberate but firm rolling technique. |
| |
Again. |
| |
Gradually rolling the hair system to the back of Susan’s head. Susan has now moved her hands to the back and pulled the hair down with both hands, this gives the attachment a secure hold. |
| |
Finishing the attachment. |
